Finding Joy in the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild

A feeling of joy and the Polymer Clay Smooshers go hand in hand for me.  Not only do I get great joy from my fellow guild members themselves, but from their wonderful work, as well.  So many items I see in their shops make my jaw drop, or bring a big smile to my face.  This guild is full of amazing and talented people, who are also kind, funny, and inspirational.  I'd like to share just a few pieces from these wonderful artists that bring me joy.  DesertRubble is a recent addition to the Smooshers, and I fell in love with her work the minute I saw it, especially this Steampunk Dragonfly.
Steampunk Jewelry Dragonfly Art Pendant w/ Industrial wings
This is one talented Smoosher!  I love the color and the iridescence.  And a dragonfly seems to fit naturally into the Steampunk trend.  She's got plenty of other unique and beautiful items in her shop as well, and I love them all.

This sculpture from KBish is just so sweet!  It makes me smile every time I see it.
Best Friends- Dragon fantasy Figurine
Even dragons need a best friend!  I just love the whimsy of the piece, and the expressive dragon with his cute little green friend.

When I first saw this piece from Kneaded Things I laughed out loud because it was just so cool!  Talk about character!  This mushroom is loaded with character!
Mr. Mushroom Incense Burner
This is one of the coolest incense burners I've seen.  First, Mr. Mushroom is just totally awesome, second the colors are beautiful and  vibrant, and third, I adore the flowers in the grass.  Just a delightful item!

And then there's LaDeDa- this gal's always able to make me smile- LOL!  The first time I saw her Punk Rock Christmas ornaments I loved them instantly, especially this one.  I think it's the spiked hair and sunglasses that really grab me.Christmas Ornament Punk Rock Pinky Polymer Clay Snowgirl Snow Rocker
These are definitely unique Christmas ornaments!  They're just fun, and they make me smile. :)
And these are just a few of the pieces from the Smooshers that bring me joy, make me laugh, or smile, or say "wow, that's really cool!".  I want to thank these artists for bringing a little extra joy into my life. ;)

Welcome the new members of the Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild

Recently we've had quite a few new additions to the Polymer Clay Smooshers guild, and I've been getting to know these talented artists a bit the last few days.  And I do mean TALENTED!  I could spend hours in their shops.  I believe we have 47 new members, so this collection is just a peek at a few of the new members.  Be sure to check out their shops and see everything they have to offer.

The Polymer Clay Smooshers guild Medieval Challenge

My Entry for the Polymer Clay Smooshers Medieval Challege

OOAK Blue and Green Dragon with Rider Polymer Clay Fantasy Sculpture
It's almost time for all the entries for the Polymer Clay Smooshers guild Medieval Challenge to be unveiled.  This was an absolutely wonderful theme for our creative minds to play with!  I've had a sneak peek at some of the other guild member's pieces and I'm VERY impressed.  I just can't wait to see all the entries!  What I've seen so far is incredible.  You give the Smooshers a Challenge and they rise to it every time!  I really do love the level of group participation within this guild.  We really get to know each other and learn from one another.  It's just so much FUN being a Smoosher!
Of course I just HAD to create a dragon for this Challenge- it was just a matter of deciding what kind of dragon, and in what situation.  I chose to sculpt a Dragon Rider for this one.  The Rider and his Dragon are bonded for life, and are more friends than pet and master.  Very few people are born Dragon Riders, making their magic special and rare.  I've had this story in my head for years, and I believe I'll create more Dragon Riders in the future.  Eventually I may write the entire story down as well.  This particular dragon has blue belly scales and blue and green scales (each cut out individually) cover his body.  His wings are an iridescent blue green that shimmers beautifully in the light.  His spines, horns and ears were sculpted from glow in the dark clay.  The piece measures 7 1/2 inches tall and 9 inches from toe to tail tip with a 7 1/2 inch wingspan.
